I thought it was high time that I jump back on the 7 Quick Takes bandwagon, so here we come - thumbnail style.
1. It's the season, baby
Here's one thing I'm getting better at: figuring out how seasons work. I'm not talking about the ones on the calendar, the "winter, spring, summer, fall" variety. I'm talking about seasons of life, patterns of activity. Picking up stuff in some seasons and laying them down in others.
This past winterI wrote a book (drumroll please), a first-time event for me. It wrote it for a client as a consulting project, and it's on capacity-building for nonprofits. Not a topic for everyone, I grant you, but it was nevertheless a great experience and I'm happy with the end-result. I've written equally long documents before like business plans and proposals, but that doesn't feel the same. A book is a book.
Here are things I didn't do while I was writing the book: study much Greek. Blog.
Now the book project is done, though, and I can... at least for a bit. Because summer's coming, and I well remember that twelve weeks of The Kids Are Home and We Are Nomadsis a season all it's own with its own demands and permissions.
2. I'm now a bona fide mini-blogger on my writer Facebook page
